FAQ
Frequently Asked
What kind of courses do you offer?
Cider Mountain offers three different immersive weekend workshops—Songwriting and Production, Tracking, and Mixing. There’s something to learn for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned professional wanting to learn the tips and tricks that took industry professionals to the next level.
Who are the instructors?
You will learn directly from industry insiders and working professionals who have experience with major names in the music industry. Our mentors provide one-on-one, hands-on training in a real-world studio environment rather than a traditional classroom.
Is this a "stay-and-learn" experience?
Yes. Unlike traditional schools, Cider Mountain is a destination recording studio on 140 private acres where students can stay overnight in our on-site lodge or cabins. This allows for total immersion in the creative and technical process.
Where will I stay during my course?
We provide deluxe accommodations for workshop students: five well-appointed guest suites in the lodge and three cabins nestled in the pines, offering comfort and hospitality at every turn. Most lodging consists of semi-private sleeping spaces with full bathrooms that can be comfortably shared by two guests. A private room is available at additional cost.
What are the facilities like?
Cider Mountain, with its expansive outdoor spaces and comfortable lounges, offers ample space between or after lessons to unwind and get to know your classmates. You’ll find billiards, arcade games, poker, ping pong, a large movie screen, and a comfortable dining lounge to enjoy your chef-prepared meals.
The recording spaces, lounge areas and five of the guest suites are in the main building. Cabins are just steps away.
Do I need to bring my own food?
No! Meals are provided through our on-site commercial kitchen.
How long do the courses last?
Students arrive on Thursday after 4 p.m. Instruction begins Friday morning after breakfast and continues through Sunday at 3 p.m. Feel free to be our guest Sunday night if Monday travel is needed. Check out Monday morning by 10 a.m.
Where is the studio located?
1808 Cider Rd., Athol, Idaho
Ideally situated between the beautiful lakeshore towns of Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, and Bayview, Cider Mountain places you among the best this popular tourist area has to offer.
Where is the nearest airport?
Cider Mountain is an hour and 15 min from Spokane International airport. If you won’t be renting a car, contact us for help arranging transportation between the airport and the studio.
